Director of Corporate and Event Sales

The Director of Corporate & Event Sales will grow sponsor / client relationships for Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. and Henry Maier Festival Park.  Working collaboratively with colleagues, the position will have responsibility to identify, develop, solicit, manage and retain relationships and revenue streams for Summerfest, other events produced by MWF or the Summerfest Foundation and rental of the facility.  This position will also take a leadership role in developing relationships to help support the launch new events.                                              

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.                               

  • Brings expertise and experience to prospecting new relationships, developing comprehensive proposals, negotiating new business and retaining current clients.  Actively engages in each step of the sales cycle on behalf of Summerfest, MWF-produced events and the Summerfest Foundation.  
  • Engages in outside sales efforts for all sponsorships, programs and venue rental business, directly managing a portfolio of clients valued at $1MM+.
  • Creates new opportunities and saleable inventory to increase annual organizational revenues.
  • Working with colleagues, establish and manage revenue, expense and select programmatic budgets, including forecasting and planning to meet overall goals.
  • Partners closely with colleagues to create multi-channel promotions including media partners in an effort to maximize client results and event revenues.
  • Manage the Event Sales and Sponsorship Coordinator, who will have with responsibility to support event sponsorships, business to business programs, exhibitors, independent events and private rental of Henry Maier Festival Park.
  • Assists in the management of on-site execution of sponsorships and related programming for all MWF-produced events.        
  • Assists in managing the sponsor fulfillment reporting process, including information collection and organization.
  • Track sales team metrics, analyze findings and report data to leadership on a regular basis.                  


  • A proven track record of sales success in a related field through ten years of relevant experience
  • Working knowledge and sales acumen in sponsorships, events, promotions and corporate hospitality and ticketing programs
  • A bachelor’s degree, or higher, from an accredited college or University
  • A positive, “can-do” attitude with a high level of customer service
  • Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to communicate organizational vision
  • Well-developed project management skills, organizational skills, time management skills and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects
  • Foster trust and open/honest communication with internal teams, partners and clients
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime
  • Ability to consistently and professionally represent the company
  • Ability to build and maintain cordial relationship with clients, peers and people at all levels, using diplomacy, judgment and interpersonal skills
  • An affinity for music, the performing arts and event is helpful
  • Strong knowledge of the following: Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  Typically this includes a climate-controlled, low to moderate noise environment, however Milwaukee World Festival, Inc., is the owner and producer of outdoor events, so the job may include activity outdoors during the summer months. This position may also be exposed to certain risks or hazards that are typically associated with an outdoor public venue.
