Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator

Description:

Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. leases and manages Henry Maier Festival Park, produces Summerfest, “The World’s Largest Music Festival” and hosts Milwaukee’s ethnic festivals along with additional events throughout the festival season.  The 501(c)3 organization is hiring a Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator to bring a positive attitude, tremendous work ethic and great communication and relationship building skills to the Sales and Marketing team.

The ideal candidate will posess excellent writing skills with the ability to proof read for grammatical and content-based accuracy, be passionate about building relationships with the media, have the capacity to collaborate with others on projects that have hard and fast deadlines, the ability to work in an event-based atmosphere, be detail-oriented, self-motivated, an excellent communicator, knowledgeable about the music and entertainment industries and have a positive and professional attitude.

The Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator will plan, direct and manage Milwaukee World Festival, Inc's communication and public relations strategies through written and digital communication, media relationships and external partners. In addition, the Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator will be a key spokesperson for Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. building brand awareness locally, regionally and nationally. 

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Create and maintain a content calendar for all internal and external communication (press releases, website and social media content, email, etc.)
  • Write and distribute press releases and external communication to staff, sponsors and media
  • Oversee all communication funneled through Sales and Marketing Department, to ensure accuracy and consistency of brand image, tone and voice
  • Guide relationship with outside vendors to execute on national public relations initiatives 
  • Serve as a spokesperson for Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. building and maintaining relationships with the media and community partners as needed
  • Monitor and track media coverage using media monitoring software including building media lists, running reports and tracking analytics
  • Establish communication and public relations benchmarks and identify growth potential and opportunities
  • Approve and credential all media on-site to cover Summerfest, field requests and schedule interviews
  • Write, manage and coordinate content and production of some of the annual marketing and public relations projects to include Schedule of Events and Year In Review
  • Work closely with the Director of Advertising and Promotion on the development of the annual marketing campaign with coordination of grassroots executions as part of that plan
  • Work with the team to create saleable digital assets from websites and social media properties under the direction of the Director of Advertising and Promotion
  • Work with Director of Advertising and Promotion to hire, oversee and manage a seasonal team of interns to help with artist relations, the Street Team, video production, etc.
  • Assist with communication and event efforts on additional events outside of Summerfest, to include the Summerfest Rock 'n Sole Run, fall music series, band camp and more
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in public relations, mass communication, marketing, journalism or similar field of study
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant public relations and marketing experience (corporate or agency) developing and/or assisting with management and implementation of communication plan, writing press releases and pitching stories to the media 
  • Exceptioal oral and written communication skills with the ability to draft and edit correspondence as well as proofread for grammatical and content-based accuracy 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop professional relationships internally with staff and with outside organizations and vendors
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills including the ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to coordinate the efforts of other Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. staff in support of events and projects
  • Experience utilizing media monitoring software
  • Experience with social media management including content creation and execution
  • Passion for strengthening events with great marketing and communication
  • General understanding of all marketing channels (digital, print, out of home, social media, etc.) and the ways communication and public relations can strengthen their reach
  • Candidates must be able to multi-task and switch direction and/or focus at a moment's notice while remaining professional and courteous 
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Proven ability to meet goals and work well with others in a team environment
  • Honest and ethical with a professional appearance/hygiene and attitude
  • Ability to work long and non-traditional hours during the first 6 months of the year and some other periods of the year
  • Event planning and operation experience a plus
  • Passion for the entertainment industry a plus
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screening including a background check

Graphic Design and Marketing Specialist

Responsibilities:

Support Milwaukee World Festival, Inc.'s Sales and Marketing Department with captivating graphic design services for digital communications, printed advertising, collateral and sponsor signage. Manage outsourcing of print and collateral production, including creating job specs, timelines and vendor evaluations, recommendations and press checks. Conduct bid process annually for all MWF print collateral projects. Manage collateral print budgets and process payment of invoices. Concept, capture, create, edit, produce graphic design elements and multimedia content for MWF's four (4) websites, all social media environments, email, promotions, electronic signage and Sales and Marketing presentations. Organize and maintain MWF's digital library and assets. Assist with customization of advertising elements copywriting, trafficking, planning and executing grassroots/public events and administrative needs as assigned. Manage master traffic calendar that details all incoming and outgoing projects that require graphic work.

Qualifications:

  • College Degree in graphic design, visual arts, marketing communications or related field of study
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant Creative Design experience (corporate or agency) developing and managing creative solutions in Brand advertising, promotions and collateral 
  • Positive, energetic, flexible team player
  • Excellent written, graphic design, verbal and interpersonal skills with sharp attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to distill, manage and coordinate input from multiple sources while working in a fast-paced deadline driven environment
  • Creative problem solving
  • Ability to productively work independently or as part of a larger team
  • Knowledgeable about entertainment, music, event and festival industries and how creative design is used to help achieve marketing objectives
  • Passion for achieving objectives through effective and stylized visual design and copy
  • Experience creating dynamic Sales and Marketing presentations, including integrating copywriting, photography, video and graphics and interactive technologies

Sales Director - Sponsorships

Overview:

The Sales Director - Sponsorships will have a minimum of 5 years sales experience and proven track record of developing and selling 6-figure sponsorships and promotions in sports and entertainment, sponsorship activation planning and execution, excellent client service, new saleable asset development (tangible and intangible) and proposal development.  Sponsorship valuation and measurement experience along with media and online promotion sales experience highly desirable.

 Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. leases and manages Henry Maier Festival Park, produces Summerfest, “The World’s Largest Music Festival” and hosts Milwaukee’s ethnic festivals along with additional events throughout the festival season.  The 501(c)3 organization is hiring a Sales Director - Sponsorships to build new relationships and new sponsorship revenue as part of the Summerfest Sales and Marketing Department.  The ideal candidate will possess exceptional sponsorship knowledge and solid relationships, have a proven sales track record and ongoing passion for building new business through leveraging sports, entertainment, advertising, digital and social media assets.  The Sales Director will be an excellent creative thinker and developer of saleable assets and concepts to address specific sponsor and property objectives.

The successful candidate will possess an insatiable drive for targeting and prospecting while harvesting existing relationships with brands and marketers locally, regionally and nationally.  The successful candidate must be a polished and effective presenter and cultivator of C-level relationships and understand the various approaches brands utilize to generate specific marketing results via sponsorships and promotions. 

The ideal candidate will have a command of traditional and digital sponsorship approaches and measurement and must be detail-orientated, self-motivated, an excellent communicator and knowledgeable about the music and entertainment industries.  The ideal candidate will have direct experience with properties and events and have a solid understanding of media and digital properties.

  • Meet or exceed new revenue goals annually, as assigned
  • Create and sell new saleable sponsorship assets to address sponsor and property objectives
  • Develop and present polished, winning proposals
  • Assist with client services, rights and benefits fulfillment and sponsorship recaps, including proof of performance materials
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, public relations, mass communication, business administration, sports management or similar field of study
  • 5-7 years of relevant sales experience (corporate or agency) developing sponsor relationships and revenue
  • Proven track record of consistently developing and selling 6-figure sponsorships and programs
  • Passion for achieving sales objectives with prospecting, strategy, creativity and program concepts
  • Ability to develop new saleable assets, including tangible and intangible opportunities
  • Experience with and understanding of sponsorship measurement and analytics
  • Event planning and operations knowledge with a passion for the entertainment industry a plus
