Digital Marketing Specialist

Description:

Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. leases and manages Henry Maier Festival Park, produces Summerfest, “The World’s Largest Music Festival” and hosts Milwaukee’s ethnic festivals along with additional events throughout the festival season.  The 501(c)3 organization is hiring a Digital Marketing Specialist to work as part of the Sales and Marketing Department and act as a liaison to the IT Department.  The ideal candidate will possess excellent  writing skills with the ability to tell a story via photographs and video, be passionate about staying on top of the ever-changing trends in social media as well as websites and mobile, create and managing great online content, be detail-orientated, self-motivated, a great communicator, knowledgeable about the music and entertainment industries and have a positive and professional attitude.

The Digital Marketing Specialist will organize and manage all content for Milwaukee World Festival, Inc.’s digital properties including websites, mobile websites and mobile apps via content management systems, social media platforms and an extensive email database.  In addition to organization, he or she will coordinate and create content for all of the listed properties as well as help create and package saleable assets on each property.  This position will also create and execute integrated digital marketing promotions while paying close attention to website analytics and user demographics in order to adapt strategies and tactics as trends and behaviors change.  This position will also present and interpret traffic and exposure analytics as they pertain to sponsors/sponsorships.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Manage all content for the four primary MWF websites, including Summerfest.com, MarcusAmp.com, MilwaukeeWorldFestival.com and Rocknsolerun.com using a content management system (CMS) program
  • Manage all social media assets and profiles for the brands on platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Yelp, etc. which includes creating and writing content, proofreading and posting, sometimes with minimal supervision
  • Write and manage regular blog content for Summerfest.com as part of a cohesive content marketing strategy
  • Assist in the development of the annual marketing campaign and manage the execution of interactive social media elements as part of that plan
  •  Work with Marketing and PR Manager to create and maintain a content calendar for all website and social media content
  • Concept, capture, create, edit and produce  multimedia/video content for Summerfest.com and social media platforms
  • Concept and execute social media promotions
  • Maintain website and social media platform analytics and generate various reports, progressively track and interpret social media engagement across all platforms and adjust strategy as necessary
  • Establish digital and social benchmarks and identify growth potential and opportunities
  • Create saleable digital assets from websites and social media properties under the direction of the Director of Corporate Sales and Sponsorships
  • Manage sponsor accounts directly related to newly created saleable digital assets under the direction of the Director of Corporate Sales and Sponsorships
  • Work with IT Department on search engine optimization
  • Write and deploy HTML emails through a segmented database managed via an email dispatch program
  • Hire, oversee and manage a seasonal team that will help create digital video and audio content during Summerfest
  • Assist with management and development of a mobile app within and across internal departments, as well as an external vendor/contractor
  • Assist with compilation of sponsorship recaps to include sponsor impressions received, traffic received and proof of performance through reporting and screen captures
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in journalism, marketing, public relations, mass communication or similar field of study
  • 2-3 years of relevant marketing experience (corporate or agency) developing and/or assisting with management of web-based technologies, applications and/or social media platforms and strategies
  • Experience developing and deploying email marketing campaigns and measuring success
  • Exceptional oral, written communication skills
  • Excellent project management and/or organizational skills
  • Passion for achieving objectives with technology, communication and innovative approaches
  • A journalist's eye for news items and content that will be interesting to Summerfest.com visitors
  • Experience with multimedia/video creation and editing and/or photography
  • Experience with analytics reporting across digital and social channels
  • Strong understanding of social consumer behavior
  • Passion for strengthening events with great marketing
  • Event planning and operation experience a plus
  • Passion for the entertainment industry a plus
  • Meticulous proofreading skills
  • Experience with website CMS software preferred
  • General knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
  • General understanding of non-social marketing channels (digital, print, out of home, etc.) and the ways interactive and digital platforms can strengthen their reach
  • Candidates must have a strong work ethic, organizational skills and be able to work in a fast-paced environment and work independently to complete tasks on tight deadlines
  • Candidates must be able to multi-task and switch direction and/or focus at a moment’s notice
  • Honest and ethical with a professional appearance/hygiene and attitude
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Proven ability to meet goals and work well with others in a team environment
  • Ability to work long and non-traditional hours during some periods of the year

Sales Director - Sponsorships

Overview:

The Sales Director - Sponsorships will have a minimum of 5 years sales experience and proven track record of developing and selling 6-figure sponsorships and promotions in sports and entertainment, sponsorship activation planning and execution, excellent client service, new saleable asset development (tangible and intangible) and proposal development.  Sponsorship valuation and measurement experience along with media and online promotion sales experience highly desirable.

 Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. leases and manages Henry Maier Festival Park, produces Summerfest, “The World’s Largest Music Festival” and hosts Milwaukee’s ethnic festivals along with additional events throughout the festival season.  The 501(c)3 organization is hiring a Sales Director - Sponsorships to build new relationships and new sponsorship revenue as part of the Summerfest Sales and Marketing Department.  The ideal candidate will possess exceptional sponsorship knowledge and solid relationships, have a proven sales track record and ongoing passion for building new business through leveraging sports, entertainment, advertising, digital and social media assets.  The Sales Director will be an excellent creative thinker and developer of saleable assets and concepts to address specific sponsor and property objectives.

The successful candidate will possess an insatiable drive for targeting and prospecting while harvesting existing relationships with brands and marketers locally, regionally and nationally.  The successful candidate must be a polished and effective presenter and cultivator of C-level relationships and understand the various approaches brands utilize to generate specific marketing results via sponsorships and promotions. 

The ideal candidate will have a command of traditional and digital sponsorship approaches and measurement and must be detail-orientated, self-motivated, an excellent communicator and knowledgeable about the music and entertainment industries.  The ideal candidate will have direct experience with properties and events and have a solid understanding of media and digital properties.

  • Develop and negotiate new relationships and revenue in sponsorship for Summerfest
  • Meet or exceed new revenue goals annually, as assigned
  • Create and sell new saleable sponsorship assets to address sponsor and property objectives
  • Develop and present polished, winning proposals
  • Assist with client services, rights and benefits fulfillment and sponsorship recaps, including proof of performance materials
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, public relations, mass communication, business administration, sports management or similar field of study
  • 5-7 years of relevant sales experience (corporate or agency) developing sponsor relationships and revenue
  • Proven track record of consistently developing and selling 6-figure sponsorships and programs
  • Passion for achieving sales objectives with prospecting, strategy, creativity and program concepts
  • Ability to develop new saleable assets, including tangible and intangible opportunities
  • Experience with and understanding of sponsorship measurement and analytics
  • Event planning and operations knowledge with a passion for the entertainment industry a plus
