Henry Maier Festival Park Calendar of Events 2016

2016 Date: July 29-31

Billed as Milwaukee's Kick Off to the Wisconsin Oktoberfest Season, German Fest celebrates 35 years with authentic culture, food, music and history of the many German-speaking communities around the world. Popular attractions include the Dachshund Derby, Glockenspeil, Run/Walk and Marktplatz. 

2016 Date: August 7

Jazz Visions on the Lake is a free, one-day community event that will showcase local jazz musicians at Henry Maier Festival Park on Sunday, August 7 from 2:00 – 6:00 pm. Created in partnership between Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. and Milwaukee Jazz Vision, the afternoon event will give music fans the opportunity to kick back, relax and enjoy the sounds of live jazz along the shores of Lake Michigan. The event is also supported by Summerfest Foundation, Inc., IATSE – Local 18 and Clearwing Productions.

Milwaukee Jazz Vision is an organization of business and music industry professionals, musicians, teachers, students and listeners working together with the goal of advancing jazz music in the Greater Metro-Milwaukee area.

Irish Fest has been part of the Milwaukee community for more than 30 years and the Smithsonian Institution called it "the largest and best Irish cultural event in North America." True to its mission statement "to promote and celebrate all aspects of Irish culture and to instill in future generations an appreciation of Irish heritage," Irish Festivals, Inc. is much more than a festival, working on outreach endeavors throughout the United States.

2016 Date: August 26-28

Mexican Fiesta celebrates the sound, culture and taste of Mexico and other Latin American countries each year with three days of fun, food, Mariachi and Fiesta for everyone. Mexican Fiesta is more than just a celebration; it is a vigorous declaration of community spirit at its best, concentrating on providing education and cultural events for the growing Hispanic community. 

2016 Date: September 9-11

The mission of Indian Summer Festival is to educate, preserve and promote American Indian cultures and showcase the diversity that exists within tribal cultures. The event features a competition pow wow, cultural demonstrations, traditional food, fine art, lacrosse, Olympic-style amateur boxing, the Indian Summer Music Award Show, a marketplace and both cultural and contemporary entertainment.

2016 Date: September 24

Fromm Petfest is celebrating its third year as a fun event for two-legged and four-legged attendees. The free event features a variety of pet-focused attractions and activities, including dock diving, agility and lure courses, main stage presentations including training and trick clinics, a pet-themed marketplace, family-focused activities, contests, music, food and more. 

2016 Date: September 4

This Labor Day weekend, you’ll find the best BBQ in town on the south end of Henry Maier Festival Park. Presented by Meijer, the Big Gig BBQ will be serving up smoky ribs, savory brisket and signature BBQ from ten of the best local and national cookers. An officially sanctioned event of the Milwaukee Rally, the Big Gig BBQ will feature two stages of live entertainment, including a national headliner, and the finest beer. There’s no backyard BBQ that can compete with this party!
